smb band 2000 2001 2002 2003

suddenly..i realise that
I MISS BAND A LOT!!!!!
actually was on my way to band last fri
thats my 2nd time going for the concert preparation
haha. was very busy with school earlier tats why didn go
after semester finished, kept on procrastinatin
tats why until last week den decided to go
and it was tan zhuozhen who asked mi if i wana go
agreed to go in e end
but some bloody taxi uncle cheated my money so i didn go in e end
baby wanted mi to go back his place there cos he wanted to scold e taxi uncle
in the end he missed it
zhuozhen called and asked if i wanted her to fetch mi to band
i rejected her cos i wasn in the mood anymore..
sianz.. and moreover it was like 9pm alr
band ends at 10pm

i joined band since sec 1 and i didn regret at all
secondary school life was such a joy its all because of band
wonderful memories
wonderful bandmates..wonderful band instructor..
not forgetting the fun during camps
and the hangin out session after band prac on saturdays
concerts was the best cos thats the time when we could ask for a band camp..
when we could perform at VCH
the stayovers in school after concert was the most memorable until there's a band teacher in- charge call MR GOPAL who forced us to sleep during one of the stayover
i could never forget how disappointed everyone was
girls heading back to the bandroom and guys sleepin in the canteen
the lights were off and Mr GOPAL sat there and made sure everyone sleep
that was crazy
at least the girls were better
we stayed in the bandroom and nobody cared wad we did inside

i remembered the next concert,
we didn stayover in school anymore
instead, all of us went to one of the band member's house and stayed oveer!!!
haha clever rite?
no restrictions..no complains from neighbourhood..and lastly, no MR GOPAL
that was how close we were during the days in SMB
when miss tan left us in 2002, the whole band cried..
she was the one who built up smb..who brought smb the reputation..
we were very worried that we would not make it without her..
but we pulled ourselves up together again..together with mr er, we worked hard for our syf..
mr er was very stressed up then because he was afraid that he wasn't sure if he could maintain the gold medal for us..
but he hanged on there..made us trust him..
and in syf 2003, we performed 2 beautiful pieces of music under his baton and got our gold medal again
it was double happiness for him, because his another young band, cvss, got the gold medal as well.
i remembered how he jumped in joy and cried in happiness when he heard the news
(we were havin band prac at night with mr er and hidaya received a call from cvss after they got their syf result. all of us was very anxious to hear their result as it was the first year cvss went for sfy..they were a very young band..and then hidaya said ' YOU ALL GOT GOLD?'.. mr er said ' aiya..impossible la..bluff one la..' and den hidaya repeated again ' yes yes! they got gold'..at that moment, all of us gasped!!! mr er faced turned red and he was speechless..the next moment, he jumped up and down like a mad person. he was crying in joy and we were all very happy for him)

with two gold bands and one silver band on hand, mr er became a rather reputable and successful band instructor in singapore..

BACK TO BAND PRAC DAYS..
during pract, we got scolded together..got punished together..
at sec 2 AGM, i was given the post of quarter mistress
i worked together with alfred neo and wilson tan haha
they are the quarter masters
the 3 of us were incharge of the maintenance of instruments
taking care of the discipline of band members
concert disciplines and etc..
but the best part as a quarter master is that i can take and hold on to other instruments haha..
(for ur info, the rule is we can't hold other instruments becos we are not taught how to handle it)
its nt a big deal actually but i believe we were all very curious of how the other instruments feel like..

oh ya haha before i moved on..
i remembered on the day of AGM when tanny was still a quarter master..
during pract that dae, i was very noisy and kept giggling
i was jus sitting behind him cos saxophone session was jus behind flute session
he turned back and glared at mi
he said ' later fall in u watch out'
(we are nt suppose to make noise in the bandroom u see. we are verydisciplined in the bandroom or else we will get punished by the leaders)
but who knows, after band when we fall in, our instructor annouce the new committee members
and tanny became the band major
i think he was too overjoyed that he forgot about punishing me
and i escaped the punishment!!
hahaha. if nt kana punish alone very sia swey one you know..

i still remember i asked tanny (our band major then) how many stands we need to bring for our concert at vch
that was a joke that i made when i jus started out that post

however, this post made mi grow
i remembered that i was so scared of scoldin the band members
or shoutin across the band room for the members to keep quiet and etc
but with the support of the majors and my leaders,
i managed to overcome the fear and stand up firm with my post

at sec 3 AGM..i became the chief quarter mistress for woodwinds session
and alfred neo became the chief quarter master for brass session
that year, anna and dunno who i forgot, became the quarter masters as well
we worked together and i saw them grow as a leader jus like how i started out in the beginning

tat year, i had a conflict with zhuozhen
haha..it was rather happening
somethg happened in band and then dunno how we had a conflict
it was a rather big conflict
we didn talk for very long

band taught me a lot of things..
perserverance..determination..confidence..self esteem..teamwork..trust in each other..
how we perservered together during syf preparation and won ourselves gold medals for consecutive 2 years
it was our year of glory
the first two times we got the gold medal was 'glorier'
as onli 15 bands in s'pore would get the gold medal..
and we were one of the 15 bands..
but in 2003, they somehow changed the policy and den quite a number of band got gold..
from den, we somehow felt tat the 'gold medal' isnt that precious anymore..hahahaha

you know its very shiok durin sfy and competition
the adrenaline rush during the annoucement of result is simply SHIOK AND UNFORGETTABLE
the kind of victory u know when your band got the gold award..hahaha
all the hard work and tears were all worth it..

there will be a concert coming on 23 june 2007
combined shuqun campassville and zhenghua alumni band
at VCH
